The World Bank Group, headquartered in Washington DC in the United States, is the best-known development bank in the world. When the World Bank Group’s office in Colombo was moving their office to the prestigious One Galle Face tower next to the Shangri La Hotel, Plants & Plants was delighted to be the exclusive supplier of plants for this exciting project. Spread across levels 37 and 38, the two top floors of the One Galle Face tower, it was an iconic project to be part of. Working alongside JLL as the main contractor of the office fit out work, Plants & Plants team worked closely with the World Bank team to finalise the plant displays and layouts in the new office. Our nursery and project delivery teams planned their activities end to end carefully to ensure nothing was overlooked. Our team delivered sample plant displays during key stages of the project for client approval before proceeding to the next stage. In addition to the supply and installation of many plants on furniture racks, the design also included the supply and installation of plants in over 250 high-quality custom-made pots across two entire floors of the One Galle Face tower. One major challenge for this project was the 2022 financial crisis in Sri Lanka where severe fuel shortages and frequent blackouts were common. To ensure the smooth running of the project, our teams maintained a special backup fuel stock for 3 months exclusively for the World Bank project. However, with strong project management and close planning with the World Bank team, our partners and suppliers, Plants & Plants was able to deliver and install the plants at the new offices on time and handover to the in-house team for ongoing maintenance.
